In brief: Inflation up in Ecuador

* Ecuador’s national statistics institute (Inec) has released the consumer price index for December, which shows monthly inflation of 0.16% and annual inflation of 3.74%. This was up from monthly deflation of –0.01% in November, when annual inflation stood at 3.64%. Monthly inflation was steepest for food and non-alcoholic drinks (+0.04%), goods and diverse services (+0.041%), and healthcare (+0.02%). Minor price decreases were registered for clothing and shoes, communications, alcoholic drinks and tobacco, domestic goods, and housing and utilities.
