In brief: Brazil’s inflation forecast revised up

* Brazil’s central bank (BCB) has released the latest edition of its Focus bulletin, a weekly survey of private sector economists and analysts, which predicted that the country would close 2023 with an annual inflation rate of 5.36%. This was up from 5.31% in the previous Focus bulletin, which was published on 2 January. In the latest edition, those surveyed also predicted a slightly lower GDP growth forecast for 2023, forecasting this to stand at 0.78% – down from 0.80% in the previous edition.
