In brief: Mexico’s inflation remains high

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released new figures which show that monthly inflation in December 2022 was 0.38%, bringing the annual inflation rate to 7.82%. This is down from monthly inflation of 0.58% in November, when the annual rate was 7.80%. Monthly core inflation, which leaves out certain volatile food and energy prices, was 0.65% in December, bringing the annual rate to 8.35%.
