BRAZIL: Lula’s gov’t withdraws from global anti-abortion alliance

On 17 January, Brazil’s government led by leftist President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (Partido dos Trabalhadores, PT), took the country out of the so-called ‘Geneva Consensus’ alliance, a conservative global group known for its anti-abortion and anti-gay rights positions.
