* Operations have been temporarily suspended at the Antapaccay copper mine in Peru’s southern Cusco region, in response to the mine’s continued targeting during nationwide anti-government protests. In a statement, Antapaccay, which is owned by the Switzerland-headquartered Glencore, announced a “temporary halt to operations” in response to an invasion of the mine by protesters demanding the resignation of President Dina Boluarte, who then torched buildings and looted workers’ belongings. The statement urged social leaders involved in the protests to enter into dialogue with the Boluarte administration to end the unrest.
