In brief: Argentina hosts major business event with Brazil

*Argentina’s President Alberto Fernández and his Brazilian peer Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva have hosted an event in Buenos Aires with over 300 business representatives from both countries with the aim of deepening bilateral and regional integration. According to a report by Argentina’s state news agency Telam, the event, which was held as part of the visit to Argentina by Lula – his first foreign visit since taking office on 1 January - was attended by representatives of big business, small and medium-size enterprises (SMEs), business chambers and lobbies from both countries, as well as unions and representatives from financial services and the knowledge economy. Also present were Argentina’s foreign minister, Santiago Cafiero and economy minister, Sergio Massa, along with Brazil’s finance minister Fernando Haddad, among others. According to Telam the event seeks to enable follow-up on projects linked to specific sectors such as mining, energy, agri-business, connectivity, and infrastructure, among other things.
