In brief: Argentina’s monthly economic activity declines

* Argentina’s national statistics institute (Indec) has released the latest figures on its monthly index of economic activity (Emae) which shows that monthly growth in November 2022 was -0.7% while in year-on-year terms economic activity was up 2.6%. This represents a decrease both in terms of monthly and annual growth compared to October 2022 when -0.5% monthly growth was registered, and year-on-year growth was 4.5%. The sectors which posted the highest year-on-year growth in November 2022 were hotels & restaurants (+22.1%) and mining & quarrying (+9.5%). Three sectors recorded yearly decreases – fishing (-16.8%), agriculture, livestock, hunting & forestry (-6.3%), and financial intermediation (-3.3%).
