In brief: Argentina and CAF sign new loan for gas projects

* Argentina’s economy minister, Sergio Massa, and the president of the Latin American Development Bank (CAF), Sergio Díaz-Granados, have agreed a US$570m loan for a plan of gas projects and infrastructure related to the Vaca Muerta shale gas reserves in Argentina’s southern Neuquén province. The plan, which is due to be approved in March, includes the development of two pipelines, La Carlota-Tío Pujio and Reversal del Norte and the construction of compression plants. Massa tweeted that “With these works we will be able to supply the entire north with gas from Vaca Muerta and raise the possibilities of gas export volumes to Chile and Brazil”.
