MEXICO: Opposition challenges electoral reform

Mexico’s three main opposition parties are standing united in their fight against President Andrés Manuel López Obrador’s attempts to reform the electoral system. On 23 January, the national leaders of Partido Acción Nacional (PAN), Partido Revolucionario Institucional (PRI), and Partido de la Revolución Democrática (PRD) filed appeals of unconstitutionality before the supreme court (SCJN) against legal reforms relating to the electoral system that were passed by congress in December.
