In brief: Brazil posts strong job creation for 2022

* Brazil’s labour ministry has published the latest figures from the national employment registry (Novo Caged), which show that a net 431,011 jobs were lost in December, a month in which job losses are traditionally high. However, across 2022 as a whole the labour ministry highlighted the creation of a net 2.03m jobs, resulting from 22.65m job openings and 20.61m job losses. The services sector created the largest number of jobs in 2022 (+1.17m), followed by trade (+350,110) and industry (+251,868).
