In brief: Costa Rica’s central bank forecasts slowing growth

* Costa Rica’s central bank (BCCR) has released a new report forecasting that the country’s GDP will grow by 2.7% in 2023, down from 4.3% in 2022. The BCCR highlights that its 2023 forecast was unchanging from its previous forecast in October 2022, noting that this year’s expected slowdown was due to the global economic disruptions stemming from the impact of the war in Ukraine, among other things. However, the BCCR highlights that the country’s economic performance in 2022 “had a positive impact on business and consumer confidence”.
