CHILE: Boric’s blunders

Things are not easy for Chile’s President Gabriel Boric as he approaches the end of his first year in government with record-low approval ratings and struggling to get the support of a hostile congress. However, one of his government’s latest headaches, which could hinder its efforts to address public concerns with crime, was entirely of its own doing.
