In brief: Argentina extends price control programme

*Argentina’s government has extended its ‘Precios Justos’ price control programme until 30 June. Economy Minister Sergio Massa made the announcement alongside the secretary for trade, Matías Tombolini, stating that the extension had been agreed with representatives of the business sector and trade unions. Under the renewed programme, the prices of around 50,000 products will increase by no more than 3.2% a month on average. Massa said that over 480 companies had joined the new stage of Precios Justos across 15 key sectors including mass consumption, apparel, household appliances, industrial supplies, medicines and school supplies. Precios Justos was initially launched in November, fixing the prices of over 1,700 mass consumption products for 120 days.
