In brief: Experts revise down forecast for Brazil’s primary deficit

* Brazil’s finance ministry has published the results of its monthly survey of financial analysts, which showed an improvement in expectations for the government’s primary deficit in 2023. The median estimate in the poll was for a primary deficit of R$109.6bn (US$21.1bn) in 2023, down from a median estimate of R$125.9bn in January. The finance ministry also highlighted an improvement in analysts’ expectations for the 2024 primary deficit, with the median estimate now standing at R$96.1bn, down from an estimate of R$118.5bn last month.
