DRUGS: PGR puts Juárez back on top

On 12 November the Procuradurí­a General de la República and military intelligence claimed the Juárez gang was the most powerful drug gang in Mexico. This is odd because most academic specialists thought that the Cártel de Juárez had lost power following the death of its leader, Amado Carrillo Fuentes, during plastic surgery to alter his face, in 1997. The consensus had been that the three most powerful gangs were Sinaloa, Golfo and Tijuana.
