In brief: Bolivia recovers lorries trapped by Peru protests

* Bolivia’s deputy foreign trade minister, Benjamín Blanco, has said that border officials have negotiated with Peruvian citizens and authorities to secure the return of Bolivian vehicles trapped by anti-government protests. Blanco said that “thanks to the coordinated work of our border services we achieved a temporary truce for the passage of Bolivian transport drivers stranded in Peru for the past 53 days”. Blanco said that small vehicles were allowed to cross the border into Bolivia on 26 February, and that lorries began to cross the following day. Blanco said that there at least 300 Bolivian lorries have been trapped in Peru during the unrest, which has seen roadblocks set up on highways around the country and at border crossings.
