The energy transition in Latin America

Brazil may point the way for the rest of the region

Brazil has both the largest population and the largest gross domestic product (GDP) in Latin America. Because of its sheer size, therefore, changes in the country’s energy matrix are likely to play a pivotal role in the region-wide energy transition. Put bluntly, if Brazil fails to meet key energy transition targets, it is highly likely that it will pull down the wider region with it.
