* The Guatemalan exporters’ association (Agexport), a private sector lobby group, has presented five proposals to boost job creation, to present to candidates ahead of the 25 June general elections. Entitled ‘More exports, more jobs’, the strategy centres on five planks: 1) infrastructure & logistics – to convert Guatemala into a logistics hub; 2) human capital which includes two strands – to convert Guatemala into a centre of generation of competitive human talent and to convert Guatemala into a country with business leaders in sustainable development. The other two components focus on digitalisation and facilitating trade & investment through that process.
