* Uruguay’s national statistics institute (INE) has released a new report estimating that the percentage of the population living under the poverty line in the second half of 2022 was 9.1%. The report also estimates that the percentage of households living beneath the poverty line was 6.5%. For the whole of 2022, the INE puts the percentage of the population under the poverty line at 9.9% and percentage of households at 6.9%, indicating an improvement in the second half of the year. In 2021, the poverty rate in Uruguay was 10.2% of the population.
