ARGENTINA: Finance and debt worries persist

The photograph of Presidents Biden and Fernández at the White House is regarded as an electoral asset, as it serves to portray the latter as an international statesman, rebuffing centre-right opposition claims that Argentina is diplomatically isolated and directionless. During his visit to the US, Fernández also expressed his “solidarity and sympathy” for the families of the victims of the 28 March mass shooting at a school in Nashville, stating his support for gun control. The issue has resonance in Argentina where some of Fernández’s right-wing political opponents want to de-regulate gun ownership.
