In brief: Chile’s industrial production drops year-on-year

* Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has announced that industrial production fell by 1.1% in February compared with the same month of the previous year. According to the INE, a determining factor in the result was the decline in manufacturing, which fell by 3.6% compared with February 2022. This was primarily due to a year-on-year decline in the production of chemicals and chemical products. Meanwhile, Chile’s mining index (IPMIN) rose by 1.7% year-on-year, while production of electricity, gas, and water increased by 0.1%.
