*Mexico’s federal centre for labour conciliation and registration (CFRL), a government agency, has announced that the workers’ union at a plant run by US multinational car manufacturer Ford Motor Company in Chihuahua state has reached a wage rise agreement. According to a CFRL statement, the union has reached a deal with the company to raise salaries by 8.2% and benefits by 2% this year, pending a workers’ vote. Workers at the plant are represented by the Sindicato Nacional de Trabajadores de Ford Motor Company y de la Industria Automotriz, part of the Confederación de Trabajadores de México (CTM), one of the country’s largest labour organisations. Around 2,000 people are employed at the plant.
