* Brazil’s national association of vehicle manufacturers (Anfavea) has released figures for vehicle production for the quarter of January-March 2023, which showed 538,000 units were manufactured, marking an 8% increase from the same quarter in 2022, although the official statement also noted that this production figure was still around 50,000 lower than levels seen before the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic. According to the Anfavea statement, the first quarter of 2022 was the height of the global semiconductor crisis, which could explain the year-on-year increase. Vehicle exports in March this year remained the same as in February, with around 1,900 units exported per day, while the quarterly export figure of 112,200 units represented a 3.9% increase from the exports in January-March 2022.
