ECUADOR: Petroecuador reaches agreement with indigenous protesters

Ecuador’s state oil company, Petroecuador, announced on 11 April that it has reached a deal with indigenous communities to end protests at two oil drilling sites in the Amazonian province of Orellana. The protests, which ran for three weeks, caused Petroecuador’s oil production to plummet and forced the company to declare a force majeure last month.
