CHILE | Reducing working week. On 11 April Chile’s federal lower chamber of congress approved a bill to reduce weekly working hours from 45 to 40. The bill was first proposed in 2017 and passed the senate in November 2019. Speeches given in the lower chamber highlighted the benefits that the change will bring to workers such as greater quality of time, allowing up to five additional days of annual leave, catering for condensed working (the working week fit into four days), and allowing for shared parental responsibilities for parents of children under twelve.
