MEXICO: Migration chief charged over fire

Progress is being made in the criminal investigation into a fire that killed 40 migrants at a national migration institute (INM) facility in Ciudad Juárez, in the northern state of Chihuahua, on 27 March. The attorney general’s office (FGR) formally presented charges against the head of the INM, Francisco Garduño, and another high-ranking official on 25 April. However, for some, the charges may not go far enough.
