* Peru’s national statistics institute (Inei) has announced that the mining and hydrocarbons sectors grew by a combined total of 9.28% in March compared with the same month in 2022, with mining growing by 8.70% and hydrocarbons by 12.66%. The mining growth was attributed to increased production of copper (+19.9%), iron (+14.0%), molybdenum (+7.1%), lead (+1.5%), and gold (+1.0%), although production fell for tin (-48.5%), zinc (-23.8%), and silver (-2.0%). The growth in the hydrocarbons sector was driven by increased production of crude oil (+50.4%) and natural gas (+15.3%), while production of liquid natural gas fell by 3.6%.
