MEXICO: New science law unlikely to solve brain drain

On 26 April, the lower chamber of deputies approved a new general law on science, technology, and innovation, which was swiftly ratified by the senate on 29 April. It was one of many proposals passed in a rush before the end of the period of ordinary sessions on 30 April, and one of the more controversial, as a significant proportion of academics and scientists argue it is restrictive and undemocratic.
