*Argentina’s economy ministry has announced that Economy Minister Sergio Massa has signed bilateral agreements to restructure debt with three members of the Paris Club of creditors. With the signing of these agreements with France, Spain and Switzerland, the economy ministry says it has managed to restructure its debt with 15 of the club’s 16 members. This follows an agreement made last year with the Paris Club, which is made up of major creditor countries, to restructure Argentina’s debt payments for a six-year period. Massa, who was recently announced as the unity candidate for the ruling Frente de Todos (FdT) coalition ahead of 13 August presidential primary elections, stated that these agreements “guarantee the sustainability of the debt profile and thus sustain the economic recovery”.
