MEXICO: Dispute grows over SCJN salaries

A new dispute is brewing between Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and the supreme court (SCJN). In a press conference on 27 July, López Obrador announced that he was going to request, via the interior ministry (Segob), that the SCJN provide an explanation for why its justices earn more than he does as president of the republic, which he stated was “a flagrant violation of the constitution”.
