In brief: Annual inflation in Mexico continues to drop

* Mexico’s national statistics institute (Inegi) has released the latest figures for the consumer price index (INPC), which show that prices rose by 0.29% in the first two weeks of July, as compared to the last two weeks of June. This brings annual inflation to 4.79% – the lowest level since March 2021. For the same fortnight in 2022, inflation was at 0.43% compared to the previous two weeks, and annual inflation was at 8.16%. Core inflation, which excludes fuel, utilities and some food items, increased by 0.24% in the first two weeks of July, and stood 6.76% in annual terms.
