ALLIANCES: The PAN's strange bedfellows
In several of the 11 states which are holding gubernatorial elections
this year, the Partido Acción Nacional is contemplating an alliance with its
ideological foe, the leftwing Partido de la Revolución Democrática. The
alliance, which is sought by both parties, is a desperate effort by each of them
to avoid being wiped-out by the resurgent Partido Revolucionario
Institucional.
