In brief: Annual inflation continues to slow in Chile

*Chile’s national statistics institute (INE) has released new figures which show that the consumer price index (IPC) registered an increase of 0.7% in September in monthly terms, with annual inflation standing at 5.1%. This is up from monthly inflation of 0.1% in August and 0.4% in July, while the annual rate is slightly down on the 5.3% registered last month and 6.5% in July. In monthly terms, notable increases in September were seen in food & non-alcoholic beverages (+1%), transportation (+1.2%), clothing & footwear (+1.3%), and recreation & culture (+1.6%), while decreases were seen in alcoholic beverages & tobacco (-0.9%), health (-0.3%), communications (-0.1%), and education (-0.1%).
