* A survey by the Quito chamber of commerce (CCQ) has shown strong support from the business sector for Ecuador’s president-elect Daniel Noboa. Noboa, of the centre-right Acción Democrática Nacional (ADN), defeated Luisa González, of the left-wing Revolución Ciudadana (RC), by 51.8%-48.2% in the 15 October second round run-off. The CCQ’s private sector survey found that 84% of respondents were optimistic about the incoming government, with 55% expecting actions to attract investments, 45% expecting solutions to Ecuador’s security crisis, 38% expecting an increase in employment, and 30% expecting that Noboa’s government will be able to stabilise Ecuador’s social security institute (IESS). Noboa met with the outgoing President Guillermo Lasso yesterday to begin the transition process.
