Nafta Briefs

Trade with the US: In the first four months of 2010 the US exported US$50.3bn worth of goods to Mexico and imported US$71.1bn from there. In the same period of 2009, the equivalent figures were US$38.6bn and US$52.49bn. So US exports are up by 30% but its imports from Mexico are up by 40%. As the bulk (80%) of Mexico's exports to the US are manufactured goods, the bulk of the difference is the value added by Mexican labour.
