Hate speech in the mix
Part of the disinformation toolbox contains or overlaps with the idea of hate speech. As with many other online concepts, there are different definitions for what exactly hate speech is. However, the United Nations defines hate speech as “any kind of communication in speech, writing or behaviour that attacks or uses pejorative or discriminatory language with reference to a person or to a group on the basis of who they are, in other words, based on their religion, ethnicity, nationality, race, colour, descent, gender or any other identity factor.”
