* Honduras’s central bank (BCH) has released new figures which show that the country’s monthly indicator of economic activity (Imae) was up by 4.5% in September on the same month of 2022 while accumulated growth in economic activity for 2023 was 3.6%. Key contributors to accumulated growth included financial intermediation, insurance & pension funds (+15.2%); postal services & telecommunications (+5.3%); agriculture, livestock, forestry & fishing (+2.8%); hotels & restaurants (+14.5%); transportation & storage (+7.1%); and private construction (+5.2%). Conversely, the manufacturing industry contracted by 6.8% due to a reduction in external demand for textiles. The Imae figure for September follows 5.5% year-on-year growth in August, when accumulated growth for the year was 3.4%, and 4.7% year-on-year growth in July, when accumulated growth was 3.1%.
