COLOMBIA-VENEZUELA: Oil deal in the pipeline

Colombia’s President Gustavo Petro travelled to Caracas on 18 November for discussions with his Venezuelan counterpart, Nicolás Maduro, on the deepening of relations between the two countries. By far the most significant announcement was Petro’s suggestion that a partnership could be formed between the countries’ state oil companies, Ecopetrol and Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa).
