MEXICO: Bárcena visits China
Mexico’s Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena embarked on her first official visit to China on 4 December, following hot on the heels of a meeting between Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador and China’s President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in San Francisco on 16 November. As with that meeting, Bárcena’s visit focused on boosting commercial ties and cooperation on tackling the synthetic opioid fentanyl.
