Panama’s minister for trade & industry (MICI), Federico Alfaro, has become the first high-level official to step down following last week’s supreme court (CSJ) ruling against the new contract between the Panamanian subsidiary, Minera Panamá S.A. (MPSA), of Canadian mining company First Quantum Minerals (FQM) and the government regarding Cobre Panamá, the country’s biggest mine [WR-23-48].
