*Venezuela’s state oil company, Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa), has signed an agreement with the Spanish energy firm Repsol to expand their joint venture in Venezuela. This joint venture, named Petroquiriquire, is a 60%-40% partnership between Pdvsa and Repsol, and operates in the Quiriquire fields in Monagas state, in Mene Grande in Zulia state, and in Motatán in Trujillo state. Pdvsa president Pedro Tellechea, who is also Venezuela’s oil minister, said that the increased cooperation with Repsol was a sign of the country’s hydrocarbon sector rebounding after a long period of “difficulties”.
