Today we are inviting you to join the LatinNews team and leading Latin America experts at the 2024 LatinNews Oxford Week to explore the complexities of contemporary Latin America and to help you reach a deeper understanding of the continent and its history, politics, people, and culture.
You will spend four days in the incomparable surroundings of Oriel College, Oxford, in the company of fellow Latin America devotees, for a series of lectures and seminars with leading Latin America experts, including diplomats, foreign correspondents, historians, and experts on Latin American culture.
The theme of the 2024 LatinNews Oxford Week is ‘Latin America – a land of complexity and promise’, and the programme for the four days includes lectures and discussions on fascinating topics such as:
- The Cold War Legacy – abiding divisions and contested history
- Sport and Politics – how sport is used to boost or challenge power
- Contemporary literature – building on the work of giants
- Latin American film - the influence of history on filmmaking
- Indigenous society – the importance of tradition and culture in the search for a viable future
- Latin America’s natural endowment - the challenges of economic development and sustainability
- GALA DINNER THEME: Latin America’s place in the world – a unique opportunity
The programme of lectures and seminars will be balanced by a complementary programme of cultural activities, food & drink tastings, college dining, and a Gala Dinner to round off what will be a truly exceptional four days of immersion in all things Latin American.
The fee for these four days in Oxford, including full-board accommodation in Oriel College, lectures, cultural activities, and the Gala Dinner is £3,225 plus 20% VAT (total £3,870).
