PARAGUAY: Peña moves to crack down on arms trafficking

Paraguay’s interior minister, Enrique Riera, announced a series of measures on 8 February designed to enhance the traceability of firearms. The planned overhaul of the firearms law by the government led by President Santiago Peña comes against the backdrop of a major security operation conducted alongside Brazilian and US authorities to dismantle an illegal arms-trafficking network that exposed institutional corruption in Paraguay.
