In brief: Colombia’s GDP grows less than expected in 2023

*Colombia’s national statistics department (Dane) has announced that the country’s GDP grew by 0.6% in 2023, with the economy growing by 0.3% year-on-year in the final quarter. This was considerably lower than the central bank (Banrep)’s forecast of 1.0% GDP growth in 2023. Dane highlighted year-on-year reductions in internal demand (-3.8%), fixed gross capital formation (-24.8%), and imports (-14.7%). However, consumer spending was up by 1.1% and exports were up by 3.1%.
