NICARAGUA: Aleman jailed

Former president Arnoldo Alemán has been imprisoned on corruption charges. Alemán, who is awaiting trial for alleged money laundering to the tune of US$100m, was sent to El Chipote police prison in Managua. He was put under house arrest last December after a lengthy battle to strip him of his immunity.
