MEXICO: Campaigns open with security at forefront
Mexico’s three presidential candidates kicked off their official campaigns on 1 March. In the opening days of the official campaign period, one subject has dominated – security – as candidates have already begun outlining proposals to tackle the high levels of insecurity in the country. This comes as electoral violence continues to plague this year’s electoral process, with yet another municipal candidate killed on 3 March.
