MEXICO: Tourism on the up

Mexico received more visitors in January this year than in the same month of 2023 despite the appreciation of the peso and concerns over insecurity. In March the national statistics institute (Inegi) announced that 3.64m international tourists arrived in Mexico in January 2024, up from 3.51m the same month a year prior. This represents a 3.6% increase. Visitors to the country spent US$3.14bn in January this year, a 4.7% increase for the period.
