JAMAICA: Opposition PNP makes progress

Jamaica’s ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) is in the last 18 months of its current mandate. The next general election must be held by September 2025, so the 26 February local elections were watched with particular attention. Although the result was indecisive, it still represented progress for the opposition People’s National Party (PNP) which lost badly in the September 2020 general election.
