*Nicaragua’s President Daniel Ortega has authorised Finance Minister Bruno Gallardo to sign a loan worth ¥502.32m(US$70.55m) with Chinese firm China Communications Construction Company Limited (CCCC) for the construction of a solar plant in Masaya municipality, Masaya department. This follows agreements signed in April with CCCC for the construction of solar project in Ciudad Darío municipality, Matagalpa department, and comes amid other signs of burgeoning ties between the two countries which established bilateral relations in December 2021 after the Ortega government severed ties with Taiwan.
