*Peru’s minister for foreign trade & tourism, Úrsula Desilú León, has announced that the country’s exports in August totalled US$6.72bn, representing an increase of 26.4% on August 2023. Over the first eight months of the year exports totalled US$46.80bn, up 13.8% year-on-year. Fishing exports were up 27.3% over this period, partly due to a rebound in the capture of anchovies which are used for the production of fish oil and fishmeal. Agricultural exports were up 18.9%, with the value of cacao exports rising by 328% due to surging international prices. Mining exports were up by 14.5% over the same period, with gold exports up by 56.2% and copper exports up by 1.6%.
